Did you happen to catch Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 10? Given all of the rumours about Apple’s potential new “Hearing Aid Mode,” we were on the edge of our seats, waiting for the big reveal so we could pass any updates on to you.
As expected, Apple’s conference showcased many cool new updates. The new “Apple Intelligence” feature seemed to be the star of the show, promising iPhone users a powerful AI tool right in their pockets.
What was surprising, though, was the lack of conversation around “Hearing Aid Mode.” In fact, nothing at all was said about this much-anticipated hearing health feature.
Apple did introduce two new hearing-related features. While these features are impressive, they don’t quite live up to the expectations we had for “Hearing Aid Mode.”
Why Are We Doing This?
Hearing loss is a problem that’s only becoming more prevalent, and in younger and younger people. This is a big concern, and it’s more important than ever for individuals to take care of their hearing from an early age and protect it for years to come.
One of the things that holds many people back from treating their hearing challenges is the confusion around where to go and whom to trust.
Our team at Dion Hearing Centre understands that we’re right for some patients and not right for others. We wanted to create a helpful resource to better support our community and help you make the best, most informed decision when you’re looking for a partner to support you on your hearing health journey.
#1. Dion Hearing Centre
We are an independent, family-owned practice. This means that your experience with us won’t feel stuffy, but rather like you’re a part of our family. Being an independent business means that we are not tied to any manufacturers or large corporate structures that prevent us from making the right decisions for our patients.
With a reputation for compassionate, transparent, and highly customized care, Dion Hearing Centre promises upfront pricing for hearing aids and continued support with troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair.
Services include comprehensive hearing loss evaluations, advanced hearing aid technology, custom-fit hearing protection, earwax removal and ear cleaning, and more.
#2. Hearing Life
HearingLife is Canada’s largest group of hearing clinics, with more than 250 locations across Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa, and Vancouver. They are manufacturer owned and have served thousands of patients across the country.
HearingLife offers access to advanced hearing aid technology and clinical support from highly trained and certified hearing professionals.
Their services include free hearing tests, a wide selection of hearing aids and listening devices, counselling and assistance, flexible payment options, and aftercare packages. Since Hearing Life is such a large company, your experience may be less personalized than at a small, family-owned clinic.
#3. Hear Canada
Hear Canada has multiple locations. It is worth noting that Hear Canada is also owned by a manufacturer, WSA, which is the parent company of Widex and Signia. This means that your options for devices may be limited. They offer a range of hearing aids and accessories that you can purchase in-clinic.
Hear Canada’s services include hearing assessments, hearing aid maintenance and repairs, tinnitus management, earwax removal, custom earplugs, and more.
They also provide a free online hearing test that you can take on their website. However, it is important to note that this online test is not a substitute for an in-clinic test, which provides a more comprehensive evaluation of your hearing needs.
#4. Hearing and Dizziness Clinic
The Hearing and Dizziness Clinic has four locations, in Amherstburg, Essex, LaSalle, and Windsor. They have a highly skilled team of hearing care professionals and are committed to helping children and adults who suffer from hearing loss, tinnitus, or dizziness.
The Hearing and Dizziness Clinic performs balance assessments and rehabilitation services for dizzy patients in addition to hearing testing, earwax removal, tinnitus treatment, and more.
They are unique, as they offer a team of in-house healthcare providers consisting of Audiologists, Occupational Therapists, Communication Disorders Assistants, and Hearing Instruments Dispensers. One thing to be aware of is that patients must commit to a treatment plan prior to receiving an assessment.
How to Make the Right Decision on Whom to Choose
When faced with hearing loss, many people believe that the solution is simply buying a set of hearing aids.
However, that’s just one piece of the puzzle.
The more important component is partnering with the right team of hearing care professionals. We encourage you to choose a team that you believe can deliver on long-term promises, not just provide a short-term solution.
We hope the information above helps you to understand your options and enables you to make the best choice based on your unique hearing health needs and circumstances. If you have any questions or if we can help, then you can request a callback here, or call our office at (226) 6741127.
